With its ratings up substantially over last summer, not a whole lot of viewers seem to be missing "Last Comic Standing" when it airs on NBC. Still, the network isn't taking any chances.

Starting June 30, NBC will offer encore showings of the previous night's "Last Comic" at 8 p.m. ET Wednesdays (new episodes run at 9 p.m. Tuesday). The repeats will run for five weeks, through July 28.

NBC had originally scheduled three installments of sibling network Bravo's "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" for June 30 and July 7 and 14, but the network now says it will hold those episodes back for later in the summer.

The second season of "Last Comic Standing," hosted and executive produced by Jay Mohr, is one of the top-rated original programs of the young summer season. Its first four airings have drawn an average of close to 10 million viewers, up from 8.3 million last season.

More important to NBC, it's done well among adults 18-49, the network's barometer of success. Last Wednesday's (June 16) episode posted a 4.8 rating in the demographic, better than anything on TV last week save ABC's NBA Finals coverage.

"Last Comic" picked its 10 finalists last week and will follow them as they live together while competing for a talent contract with NBC and a special on Comedy Central.
